Cuttlebug Card

I saw a card on Splitcoast Stampers a few weeks ago. I've been peeking at it and threatening to scraplift it ... well, here is the original and here is my version.

Kinda cool, eh? I think the inked embossing and the sewing make it 'pop'. I inked the embossing using a brayer. Oh, and how about those Nestabilities ...? I did not know that the Nesties were avail on Overstock.com for $19.99 + $2.95 flat rate shipping. You are now enabled!

cardstock: craft supply
dry embossing: Cuttlebug
stamp: Hero Arts
ovals and scalloped oval: Nestabilities
ink: Ranger
other: sewing and brayer (to ink the embossing)

Papertrey's May Blog Hop

Papertrey's Monthly Blog Hop's are so much fun. I usually troll the web for ideas and inspiration anyway, but I love this concept.

So, count me in! I think I actually started on my cards in the 4 p.m. hour.

Oh, the challenge was to use scoring on the projects - well, challenge indeed, since I do not own a Scor-Pal or Scor It. The scoring is faint, but it is there. I have three cards to share - TFL:

Briefly here's what I worked with:
cardstock: Bazzill
patterned paper: Papertrey Ink
flower punch: EK success
ribbon: Michaels
stamps: Hero Arts
ink: VersaMagic and VersaMark
dry embossing: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder
embossing powder: Ranger and Joann
bling: craft supply
scalloped edge: Fiskars Threading Water Punch

Enjoy hopping around ... crafters!

UPDATE: I made this card too and added it at the last minute; though there is no scoring on this one.

Elegant

I needed to make a quick card for a friend whose sister passed away. So you see the card front, which was quick and simple to produce. However, I also printed a little something on the inside - I typically keep the inside of my cards blank. But I like the quote that I included on the inside:
A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.
~Marion C. Garretty

Just Another Card

Here's a card that has somehow been neglected. I mean, I made it some time ago and mailed it off so what I hope was a happy recipient. Then I discovered the image in a folder where there were no other cards images. Now, how did it get there ... ?

So now I share it w/the world. Thanks for looking.

Lovin that K&Co. Paper

Yeah ... I am really feeling the florals and the tapestry look.

So I like the way the card turn out - despite my continuing effort to work w/my sewing machine (the sewing is crooked on this card; oh well).

But check out the lighting in the pix. One thing that I don't like to bother with is lighting. I know how important it is, but usually I just want to 'point and shot'. Thanks for looking.

sketch this :: 50

Ooooh, I took a lot of time on this one. So many details. But no matter how simple or detailed, I just love making cards.

I am still a beginner in the sewing arena - and it shows, maybe not w/this card, but I need more practice. Luckily, I'm crafty enough that I can cover up my mistakes. ;-)

cardstock: craft supply
patterned paper: K&Co. and Anna Griffin
stamps: Rhonna Farrer
ink: VersaMagic
embossing powder: Creative Beginnings

Happy Mother's Day

Everyday is Mother's Day, but on the second Sunday of May, it's the official Mother's Day. So here, here to all the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces, girlfriends and all women in general. We all play the role!

Here is a quick and easy Mother's Day card. I recently purchased the the large oval Nestabilities. I like those a lot though I think I want the small ones as well because the nesting is tighter/thinner. I hope that makes sense.

I ended up giving this card away to a friend. Love that.

sketch this :: 49

For some reason I was stalkin out the sketch this site today just waiting for a new sketch to be posted. Well, my (im)patience paid off because it's a cutie. To me it is more challenging to take their sketches and use on cards because they seem to be a better fit for scrapbook layouts.

But have no fear, take the challenge ...

After a few weeks of not using my sewing machine, I decided this would be a good sketch to 'bring back the stitching'. I'm not really a 'self-tooter' but I am diggin this card. In some ways it seems too busy, but I like the collage-like feel of it.

cardstock: Bazzill
stamp (writing): Inkadinkado
ink: Tim Holtz/Ranger
butterfly die cut and embossing: Cuttlebug

cps :: 63

I'm in the process of making lots of all occasion note cards. I want to do something simple, so when I noticed the most recent CPS (Card Positioning Systems) sketch, I thought that it would be perfect. Though for me, the cards are actually to simplistic. They were obviously easy enough.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.
